Self-sabotage at work can stem from a lack of confidence or fear of failure. It’s time to stop undermining your success and happiness.
1. Don’t strive for perfection
Everyone has great ideas, but if they’re not carried out, it can lead to frustration. Implement your ideas in small steps. Align your purpose and passion with your work to stay motivated and focused.
2. Let your mind wander
If you’re overwhelmed, find activities that allow your mind to naturally solve problems. Let your mind wander and find the solution to your problem without effort.
3. Replace self-criticism with compassionate self-talk
Often you might feel overwhelmed, simply because you have to do a task that you are not very good at, or you think you cannot do it successfully and you put it off. Ask yourself: “What do I need right now?” Focus on long-term improvement, not short-term wins or losses.
4. Assess the consequences of your actions
If stressed, take a deep breath and ensure your actions align with the situation’s demands. Think about what other approaches the task or problem might require.
5. Rest & Recharge your batteries
If we feel overwhelmed, choose activities that help you relax and rejuvenate. Surround yourself with supportive people who challenge and help you grow. Remember, you deserve success and happiness at work (and also in your personal life).
Stop self-sabotaging today.
